Completed Jobs in Michigan

OurWork-RoadHighway-3

If you live in Michigan, you probably feel like road construction is more of an inconvenience than anything else. But have you thought about the long-term impact that road construction has on your everyday life and the community you work or live in? When road construction projects are done correctly – with high quality materials, equipment and well-thought out processes – the benefits of the final result far outweigh the inconvenience to drivers during construction.

In some cases, to minimize the impact on traffic and people’s live, projects can be scheduled to be completed overnight. Or with good planning, a project can be completed in sections so the impact to commuters isn’t as great.  With crews not working during peak travel hours, they minimize traffic congestion as well as safety risks. Fewer people driving through a worksite while workers are present means traffic can flow freely at posted speeds. And with fewer drivers, there is less of a possibility for distracted drivers to cause an accident. Michigan Paving and Material’s partner,  When they were brought in, Cadillac suggested splitting the job into four quadrants, which allowed for more efficient work and fewer disruptions to the large amount of everyday traffic in that area.

Having strong roads and overall infrastructure positively impacts the amount of travel that takes place within an economy and negatively impacts the amount of money consumers spend on car repairs. Using a high-quality asphalt, like Michigan Paving and Material does, helps to increase the lifespan of the road. In the construction industry, we   potholes just as much as the next person, but we do enjoy patching them up – the right way.

Potholes develop when water seeps into the pavement due to improper sealing. When that water freezes, it expands and increases the size of the crack that it got into. The team at Michigan Paving and Materials understands the importance of repairing and preventing potholes, and we strive to provide quality materials and service to all our jobs. Here is a short list of jobs we completed in 2018; if you enjoy the smooth ride on this road, you can thank us.

  1. M-40 | Hamilton, Michigan.
  2. University of Michigan Stadium | Ann Arbor, Michigan.
  3. Amway Freedom Parking Lot | Grand Rapids, Michigan.
  4. Fremont Municipal Airport | Fremont, Michigan.

Another fun fact about asphalt is that it has a relatively small carbon footprint. And can save consumers up to billions of gallons of fuel every year by allowing for more efficient travel. It’s hard to believe, but true, and Michigan Paving knows how to get the most “green” benefits out of recycled, porous and smooth asphalts. Here are some stats from the National Asphalt Paving Association (NAPA) that may be interesting to you if you live in Michigan:

  • Just over 4 million scrap tires were used to make rubberized asphalt pavement.
  • Reusing old asphalt saves about 13,500 Olympic sized pools worth of landfill capacity.
  • Roughly 1.9 million tons of shingles were used in new pavement mixes and other road building projects.
  • 72 million tons of old paving materials were used in new pavement mixes and other road building projects.
  • At least 99 percent of all material removed from old paving projects is put to use in new pavements resulting in more than $2.8 billion worth of savings.

At Michigan Paving, we understand the importance of going green, and we specifically use recycled products in the asphalt paving jobs we complete. Since we supply our own paving materials in-house, we are able to ensure we recycle as much, if not all, of the asphalt that we remove from work sites around Michigan.

Have you interacted with any of these successful MPM projects around Michigan?

M-59 Macomb County Reconstruction Project –

Michigan Paving and Materials reconstructed 3.81 miles of M-6, a high-traffic freeway located south of Grand Rapids.

Here are some other road construction projects by Michigan Paving and Materials, Cadillac Asphalt or StoneCo. Next time you’re in these areas, remember the benefits of high-quality road construction, and the use of asphalt specifically on the economy and the environment. We hope you enjoy our hard work.
