Governor Whitmer steps onto Michigan Paving jobsite to see impact in action

Michigan Paving and Materials was honored to have Gov. Gretchen Whitmer visit our jobsite in Kent County on Aug. 25, 2025, to see firsthand the impact MPM has on improving the roads in the state.
“Today in Grand Rapids, I joined the crews hard at work fixing our roads. Every orange barrel, every repaved stretch, every safe bridge—it all makes a difference for families getting to school, Michiganders getting to work, and business moving goods across the state,” Whitmer said. “We need to keep crews on the job, grow our workforce, and make sure every Michigander can count on safe, reliable roads.”
During her visit to Tyler McClain’s crew, she chatted with them about the important work they do and even joined them on the frontline to learn about the paving process. At the jobsite, Gov. Whitmer drove the paver, raked asphalt, and learned more about our individual crew members who work long hours to improve Michigan’s roads.
Continued funding for projects like these is crucial for maintaining our state’s infrastructure, and the support of our elected leaders is essential. Thank you, Gov. Whitmer!
