AIS Training Center Students Explore Asphalt Production at Michigan Paving and Materials’ Lansing Plant
On May 6, Michigan Paving and Materials welcomed high school students from the AIS Training Center to our Lansing Asphalt Plant. The AIS Training Center and technical institute is a heavy equipment operator and technician training center located in Lansing.
During the visit, students learned what it takes to produce asphalt, operate the plant, and test mixes to ensure quality control. MPM team members shared insights into the day-to-day responsibilities involved in asphalt production and highlighted the importance of safety, teamwork, and innovation in our operations.
We also discussed the many career opportunities available within our industry, including positions in operations, construction, maintenance, quality control, and equipment management. The visit provided students with a firsthand look at the vital role our industry plays in building and maintaining Michigan’s infrastructure.
Michigan Paving and Materials is committed to supporting workforce development and helping students explore rewarding careers in the construction and materials industry. We enjoyed hosting the group and thank them for taking part in the tour.
